Man Accused Of Shooting, Killing Roommate During Dispute In Prince George's County: Police

A dispute between roommates turned deadly for a 27-year-old man who was allegedly killed in Prince George's County by someone living with him, police say.

Richard Bennaugh, 38, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection to the fatal shooting of Domonique Scott Hayes in their Berrywood Lane home in Springdale on Wednesday afternoon.

At around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 10, officers from the Prince George's County Police Department were called to the 2800 block of Berrywood Lane, where there was a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found Hayes inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators on Thursday, Hayes and Bennaugh were reportedly in a disagreement, during which the latter shot the former.

The nature of the disagreement was not disclosed by police.

Bennaugh was charged with manslaughter and other offenses for his alleged role in the shooting. He is being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
